Volunteer for Sr. Transportation Service

haltom city texas senior centerVolunteer drivers are needed for the new social transportation program, Friends Helping Friends. The program will provide free rides for Haltom City residents, aged 60 years and older, to and from their homes to the Haltom City Senior Center.  The service will run Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Without this free transportation service, operated by volunteers, many Haltom City Seniors would not be able to attend events at the Senior Center, where they serve a hot lunch and fellowship is shared.

2017 Carfest – April 1

2017 haltom city carfest april 1The 8th annual Haltom City Carfest will be held on Saturday, April 1st from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Haltom High School, located at 5501 Haltom Rd. Carfest is a family-friendly free event for all ages.

Carfest welcomes collectors of cars, trucks and motorcycles…offering a venue for enthusiasts to showcase their ride for everyone. Registering to show your car, truck or motorcycle is $25 and includes an event t-shirt and a Carfest dash plate. There are over 20 categories available to enter. A registration form can be downloaded here. Judging begins at noon and the award ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. Each car registered sponsors one Haltom City student for the our annual Back to School Health Fair.

Carfest also has loads of kids activities, including inflatables, a petting zoo, face painting and temporary tattoos, balloon twisters, crafts, free goodie bags (while supplies last) and more. The Haltom City Police Department will host a bike rodeo and they too will be displaying some of their vehicles. The Haltom City Fire/Rescue Department will have a fire engine and their Smoke House interactive training rig on display.

Winners of the Carfest Kids Coloring Contest will be announced and The Tonemasters will be there to provide musical entertainment.

Carfest is a fundraiser for Haltom City’s annual Back to School Health Fair, where elementary and middle school students receive a backpack, grade specific school supplies, a vision screening, a keepsake family photo, as well as info from health agencies and community groups…all for free. Sponsorships are available for the 2017 Carfest and we need your help to reach our goals! To give you an idea of what a sponsorship provides…$30 sponsors one student for the entire school year. A sponsorship packet can be downloaded here. Download a sponsorship packet here. Sponsorships range from $100 – $2,500.

FWADA Spring Gallery Night – Mar 25

fwada haltom city spring gallery night march 25 2017Mark your calendars for the 2017 Spring Gallery Night at the Haltom City Northeast Center, 3201 Friendly Ln. (mapped below) on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 1 – 7:00 p.m. As a Friend of the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association, Art in the City will once again participate with Fort Worth’s finest art galleries, museums, studios, specialty shops, and restaurants.

The group show will feature a selection of local artists showcasing their best work. Join them in exploring the local art scene as they celebrate creativity in Haltom City! Works of watercolor, oils, acrylic, mixed media, wood turning, pottery and gourd carving will be on display. A reception with light refreshments will begin at 4:00 p.m. and the artists will be available to discuss their work. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.

HCPL’s Night of Romance – Feb 10

haltom city library night of romanceThe Haltom City Library will host the third annual Night of Romance on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Indulge in strawberries and a fountain of chocolate, bubbly drinks, while mingling with local romance authors. Don’t be shy, get their autographs, ask them how they write and how they get published. This is a free event. Bring your camera to capture romantic and funny pictures. Characters will come to life when four authors will read from one of their own writings.
