Dragon Soccer Ranked No. 1 in Nation by USA Today

After not being ranked in the top ten during the few weeks of the season by USA Today’s Winter Soccer Rankings, the Dragon Soccer Program landed at number three nationally during the third week of the regular season. They would not stay at number three for long as they continued their hot start to their inaugural season under head coach Aaron Cottrell.

When the week four rankings were released the Dragons found themselves sitting as the number one ranked team by USA Today in the United States. Joining the Dragons on the list were two other Texas teams. Pharr Valley View from Pharr and Bellaire Episcopal from Bellaire, who ranked 6th and 8th overall, respectively.

Tuesday night, the Dragons defeated V.R. Eaton High School to clinch the team’s first district championship since 2013. The Dragons also celebrated their 16 seniors in a pregame ceremony featuring special messages from the athletes to their parents and coaches.

The regular season, which will wrap up this Friday against Timber Creek. The Dragons currently have an overall record of 19-0-3 and a district mark of 10-0-3.
