Eight donated horses join PD’s Mounted Patrol

Eight horses have been donated to the Fort Worth Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit by the Citizens Support Group.

The horses range in value from $3,500 to $6,500, with a total donated value of $39,000. Since 1987, the support group has worked with the city to provide horses, trailers and various other items.

The Mounted Patrol Unit is tasked with patroling the Stockyards area, parking lots, mall areas, downtown and is especially useful in searching rugged terrain for missing persons.
