It’s National Library Week and this year we celebrate Libraries = Strong Communities.
Celebrate libraries with us this week! April 7-13 is National Library Week and that gives us a chance to celebrate all the wonderful ways libraries support the community. This year, Melinda Gates is the Honorary Chair and she is stepping forward to advocate for libraries. On April 23, she will debut her book, “The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World.” This candid and inspiring book demonstrates the link between women’s empowerment and the health of societies and includes conversations she’s had with women all over the world.
Don’t let National Library Week be the only reason you stop by to see us, we want you to check out our offerings all year! The Southlake Library offers interactive story times for kids and educational programs for both youth and adults. The library also has a wide selection of books and audio books and helps support the needs of the community through educational, business and personal growth. Whether you want to find a book, movie, program, notary or even a toll tag, the Southlake Library is here to help.
To find Melinda’s book or for more information, please contact the Southlake Library at 817-748-8243.
The American Library Association has launched a social media initiative called #MyLibraryMyStory. Share your videos, stories, photos or text sharing your library story and #MyLibraryMyStory to join the conversation. One person will be randomly selected to win a $100 Visa gift card for sharing their story. Post your story to Instagram or Twitter by April 13 at noon CT for your chance to win.
