Lakeside Drive has reopened as of 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19, after having been closed at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, in anticipation of high rainfall. The City of Fort Worth will continue to monitor lake levels and will close the section of road again if the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recommends it.
High amounts of rainfall over the past several weeks had caused elevated water levels at Benbrook Lake, and the intersection and spillway were closed as a precaution.
Residents were still able to access Pecan Valley Golf Course, the Art Cowsen trailhead and the Benbrook youth soccer fields coming from Altamesa Boulevard and Dirks Road.
This page will be updated if the status of streets closures around Benbrook Lake changes.
