The city’s new residential permit parking program addresses safety concerns about spillover parking in neighborhoods adjacent to nonresidential facilities that attract large volumes of vehicles.
The program identifies areas where neighborhoods are eligible for a residential permit parking program as determined by traffic studies.
Neighborhoods surrounding these facilities may be designated as a resident-parking-only zone:
- Texas Christian University.
- University of North Texas Health Science Center.
- Will Rogers Memorial Center/Dickies Arena.
Resident-parking-only zones may be one or more blocks of residential streets where on-street parking is limited to residents or residents’ visitors or vendors. To park in these zones, vehicles must display a valid permit. At this time, there is no cost for permits.
Resident and vendor permits
Residents who own property or occupy a residence (single-family home, duplex or multifamily unit) located within a designated resident-parking-only zone must submit an application for a permit. Each residence may receive up to three annual permits and two vendor permits (for yard crews, child care providers or other service companies).
Unlimited visitor and temporary permits are also available.
Annual permits and vendor permits are valid for one year beginning Jan. 1 and expire Dec. 31 of each year, and must be picked up at Will Rogers Memorial Center or 405 W. Seventh St.
Stickers are used for annual permits, and hangtags are used for vendor permits. Permit pickup is available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Visitor and temporary permits
Visitor and temporary permits are available for residents who have guests arriving. These permits are valid for 24 hours.
Temporary permits are for those times when residents are using a temporary vehicle or have long-term guests. These permits may be requested online, and they are valid for 30 days.
There is no cost for either a visitor or temporary permit.
Complaints related to vehicles parking in a resident-parking-only zone with no permit can be directed to 817-392-2091. For complaints outside of normal business hours, residents can call the Fort Worth Police Department non-emergency number at 817-392-4222. A police officer may respond and issue citations as appropriate.
