Join the City of Southlake in this recreational youth volleyball league designed for girls ages 6-12. Jerseys will be provided and a set rotation will be utilized to ensure all players receive equal playing time. All teams will play an 8 game season plus playoffs. All players must register as individuals (no teams).

Coaches Meeting: August 27, 6:30 p.m.
Practice Begins:
Week of September 9
Season Dates: September 14 – November 2
League Tournament: November 4-9

TCC team places second in the nation in Student Research League competition

A team of Tarrant County College students ranked among the best in the nation in the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges’ (AMATYC) 2018 Student Research League competition.

The Student Research League tasks students with formulating a solution to an open-ended research problem. The 2018 challenge centered on determining the safest place in the United States to live, based on exposure to natural disasters. Participants selected mathematical tools that best fit the problem, collected data, created a mathematical model to reflect the data and researched and interviewed

Start Warming Up for the Spring Men’s Over 35 Softball League

Online registration closes Monday, February 25, 2019.

Southlake’s men’s over 35 softball league is a great way for athletes and weekend warriors alike to get some exercise and have fun with their friends and family.

Players must be 35 by the start of the season (March 4, 2019) but teams may have up to four players between the ages of 30 and 34. All games are held Monday evenings at the Bob Jones Softball Complex. Game balls will be provided, but teams are responsible for providing their own jerseys.

Apex Arts League and Onstage in Bedford Present Mystery Dinner Theater “A Wedding to Die For”

The year is 1923, and the HMS Victoria sets sail across the English Channel. The famous Inspector Clurrot has tracked down a homicidal mastermind hiding out onboard. Meanwhile, the ship is the vessel of matrimony for the Contessa Follette and John D. Rothchild—a marriage encouraged through financial need and murderous greed. But not everything is as it seems, and it turns out that the English Channel isn’t the only thing being crossed. Audience members are recruited to stand in for the best man, bridesmaid, mother of the groom, and father of the bride in this Agatha Christie style comic mystery.

Apex Arts League to Present Nutcracker: Short and Suite

Avant Chamber Ballet to perform the one-act Nutcracker: Short and Suite plus the world premiere of Katie Cooper’s Winter from Vivaldi’s The Seasons in Southlake with live music. This season’s production is a family-friendly one-hour performance with the professional cast of dancers from ACB, Cezanne String Quartet plus new costumes and choreography. Join Apex Arts League on Thursday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church for this exciting show.

“This performance is a perfect introduction to live classical music and dance,” says ACB artistic director Katie Cooper. “Vivaldi’s Seasons is one of the most recognized pieces of music, but to see it with choreography and dance takes it to another level for the viewer. Nutcracker: Short and Suite is the second half of the evening with the best parts of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker and all the characters that you love.”

The performance is presented by Apex Arts League who brings major arts group such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Worth Symphony to the Southlake area. Step into Fall with APEX Arts League and the Grapevine Art Project

The City of Southlake is partnering with APEX Arts League and the Grapevine Art Project to present “Stepping into Fall,” a multimedia exhibit that will run September 7 through November 2 in Southlake Town Hall.

“Stepping into Fall” will feature unique works of art from the Grapevine Art Project, a community of more than 85 artists from Grapevine and surrounding areas who love to create, enjoy and learn about art.

Join us on Sunday, September 23, for a free exhibit reception featuring wine from the Bingham Family Vineyards, hors d’ourvres and live music by Mélange Musical.
